You know Elvis Presley as a pop-culture icon—now see him as a rock-and-roll pioneer. This comprehensive, two-part documentary takes a creative journey from Elvis' childhood influences through the 1976 "Jungle Room" recording sessions a year before his death. Created with the full participation of the Presley family estate, the films include stunning atmospheric shots taken inside Graceland (Elvis' iconic home), footage from his 1968 comeback TV special, and more than 20 new interviews with session players, musicians and other artists who knew Elvis or who were profoundly influenced by him—including Bruce Springsteen, Robbie Roberston, Emmylou Harris and, in one of the final interviews before his passing, Tom Petty. The films also feature never-before-seen photos and film/video footage from private collections worldwide, and include an original musical score composed by Pearl Jam lead guitarist Mike McCready.
